I find it ironic that Muslims in the Middle East can have this sort of take on terrorism:
"The attack on Egypt brings back bad memories," said Muhannad Abul-Ghanam, a 37-year-old Jordanian businessman. "The result is the same — mainly Muslim Arabs died and there's more public hatred toward these militants."
Ghazi Hamad, spokesman for the Hamas-run Palestinian Cabinet, called the Dahab bombings a "criminal attack which is against all human values."
Wow. Yeah, some of us in the West feel the same way. When militant Muslims commandeer civilian aircraft and crash it into our two biggest buildings we get the idea of how it feels. Difference is, while we endure a "criminal attack which is against all human values," many of you hand out candy to children.
"These groups, in the name of religion, justify such acts in which innocent people are killed," said Hassan Naboulsi, a 32-year-old supporter of the militant Lebanese Hezbollah faction in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon."
Hezbollah can't even get their brains around Al Qaeda. Clearly they know that they have to try and restrict their targets to Jews and Americans. After all...Jews and Americans aren't innocent. It makes it pretty hard to blame the Iraqi war or the situation in the Left Bank for a bunch of dead Muslims enjoying some sun.
This War is shaping up to be a doozy. There probably has never been a war fought by two sides that were each as completely divided internally as each other.
America is in a battle with time against Radical Islam, while its leadership is in a daily political death match with most of the Press and the opposition party.
The Left is doing everything they can to recreate Vietnam and Watergate out of thin air. They do it for power, but they do it at America's (and ultimately their own) great peril. They are the most Machiavellian and unserious party since the Copperheads. They are summed up most elegantly by Jonah Goldberg when he describes their hollow line on energy:
"We are horribly dependent on foreign oil. But we shouldn't develop domestic oil or boost our refining capacity. We need a gas tax to wean Americans from foreign oil, but high gas prices are an outrage. We need alternative forms of energy, but we shouldn't use nuclear power. We need renewable, sustainable energy, unless it spoils the view of rich liberal icons."
The Right is self-destructing in a orgy of borrowing and spending. They are shackled by their inability or lack of desire to enforce the very laws this nation was founded on. They run from themselves. They have no stomach to fight illegal aliens, much less confront Russia and China over their intransigence in all matters forthwith: one sided trade, theft of intellectual property, selling anything and everything to our enemies, and oppressive rule over their own people.
The country is divided and angry. The arguments are tired and hack. The mood is sour.
But...the terrorists keep killing. They will continue until destroyed or confronted. As long as Iran is ruled by the terror masters of Tehran, this war will not end. Until the world agrees that Al Qaeda must be destroyed, this war will not end.
Their side is conflicted too. But their conflict is simpler. They have the same conundrum the French had after Bastille. What do we do when we find our own heads on the block too?
